  • 2010 Camaro SS RS | Robin's Model Cars Internet Museum

< Back American-Designed & -Built Post-1950 Collection 2010 Camaro SS RS 18 - AV109 - 22 - 01 Chevrolet Camaro (fifth generation) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro is a pony car that was manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet from 2010 to 2015 model years. It is the fifth distinct generation of the muscle/pony car to be produced since its original introduction in 1967. Production of the fifth generation model began on March 16, 2009 after several years on hiatus since the previous generation's production ended in 2002 and went on sale to the public in April 2009 for the 2010 model year. Camaro (2009-2015) Interior (automatic model) The Camaro was made available as a coupe in five different trim levels; the LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. The LS and LT trim levels are powered by the 3,564 cc (217 cu in) GM LLT V6 engine having a power output of 312 hp (233 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 273 lb⋅ft (370 N⋅m) of torque at 5,200 rpm. The SS with manual transmission is powered by the 6.2 L (6,162 cc or 376 cu in) GM LS3 V8 engine rated at 426 hp (318 kW) at 5,900 rpm and 420 lb⋅ft (569 N⋅m) of torque at 4,600 rpm while the SS with automatic transmission is powered by a new variant of the LS3 called the GM L99 which produces 400 hp (298 kW) at 5,900 rpm and 410 lb⋅ft (556 N⋅m) of torque at 4,300 rpm. The L99 V8 engine, not to be confused with the earlier LT-series L99, uses Active Fuel Management which enables the engine to run on only four cylinders during urban driving conditions, such as highway cruising, to improve fuel economy. Other features include a fully independent four-wheel suspension system, variable-rate power steering, four-wheel disc brakes standard on all models (four-piston Brembo callipers on SS models), a StabiliTrak electronic stability/traction control system, Competitive/Sport modes for the stability system offered on SS models, launch control on SS models equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, and six standard airbags that include head curtain side-impact airbags and front seat-mounted thorax side airbags. An RS appearance package was available on LT and SS trim levels which included HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, a rear spoiler, and RS-specific taillamps and wheels. Rally and hockey stripe packages were made available in several colours as well. I would say without a doubt, one of the most recognized vehicles ever produced. This is a very well designed and made model of this vehicle. The body is absolutely flawless with the paintwork with absolutely no craving and no bubbles that some models come out with. The colour, beautiful red that makes this model stand out Being a 2-door sedan, both the doors open well, however I would prefer that they could open more to give a better view of the interior. At the sametime, it includes a rather small boot area, but displays the spare tyre perfectly. The engine cover at the rear also opens well and gives one a perfect view of the engine. The fit is quite good with solid opening and closing of these parts. Both headlights and rear lights are positioned well and that includes the turn indicator. The chrome bumper bars are well made and are solid to the touch, as well as small parts like the engine cover opening button. The decals and emblems are positioned well with a chrome strip down the middle of the boot as well as the ceconisable wheel cover with the VW brand in the centre. As this was built as a low cost car that most people could afford at the time, the interior shows this spartan look that everyone knew. The seats give that look we knew as vinyl that most low cost budget cars used. May not be so great on a hot stick day, but at least most people were able to travel more than they used to. The dash was very low cost and low key in what functions it performed. Instrumentation basic. Speedometer With maybe an amp metre to see if it was recharging the battery. I am quite sure it also had a petrol gauge, though when they first came out, it was not included.the gearshift and handbrake feature as well as the pedal controls. The engine bonnet open well and gives a reasonable look at that famous air-cooled motor. The engine detail is quite surprising quite detailed aluminium coloured block with that gey look, gives authenticity to the motor.Underneath, we see even see more detail of that engine with its unique exhaust system. What we have here is a model that has been well designed and turned into an excellent display model. There is not really much that you could say that diminishes this vehicle. Overall its very collectable, colour is right with genuinely good visual effects. I give it a 4.5/5.0. Robin Finlay 19/09/2022. Project Manager
