  • Toyota Coaster Light Bus

Click & Return to Index Page WELCOME Heavy Trucks & Buses Toyota Coaster Light Bus Toyota Coaster Light Bus The Toyota Coaster was introduced in 1969 as a 17-passenger minibus using the same running gear as the Toyota Dyna of the time. Early models used the 2.0-litre Toyota R engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. With its engine rated at 98 PS (72 kW), a RU19 Coaster could attain a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph).[12] Subsequent models used a variety of four and six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, and an option of automatic transmission was later introduced. A smaller alternative was later introduced at Toyopet Store locations, based on the Toyota ToyoAce called the Toyota HiAce which had the ability to carry up to 10 passengers but complied with Japanese Government regulations concerning exterior dimensions and engine displacement. In August 1997, Toyota "Coaster Hybrid EV" minibus was launched, ahead of the Prius. The Coaster Hybrid, according to Toyota, became its first production hybrid vehicle.[13] Production of the Coaster Hybrid continued until 2007. The LPG Coaster, fueled by liquefied petroleum gas, was developed specifically for the Hong Kong market and its air pollution problems.[14] The Coaster is widely used in Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia, but also in the developing world for minibus operators in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, the Caribbean, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, Panama, and Peru as public transportation. It is the almost the only used mini bus in public transportation in Jordan and the brand is used to refer to that segment by people and even by the government.[citation needed] These buses are imported mainly from Asia and have the steering wheel moved to the left and the passenger door to the other side. (From Wikipedia) Toyota Coaster Light Bus Model One of the sections that the museum has is dedicated to Heavy Trucks & Buses. And we have here a 1:32 scale model of the The Toyota Coaster which is a. combination of die-cast metal with plastic parts. Again I would state, that due to the actual vehicle being such a large one, we find that vehicles such as buses are not able to be made in larger scales. And what is produced are mainly children's toys. This model demonstrates in the scale here, that it is accurate in all the main details. The body is quite nice, with front drivers door that open , well perhaps not as much as one would hope. However its enough to allow you to see the drivers operating section with a reasonable representation of the dash and instrument console. because of its scale, interior is black in colour and there is not much scope for such items like any other colour. The two passenger doors open better giving an unrestricted look inside that surprisingly has quite good detail. The final opening feature is the luggage compartment that also could open wider. However the overall impression is a model that fits into the museums intent off showing all different types of vehicles that are part of the automotive world and this model is an important part of a section that one would not find loved and preserved. But here we believe that every of vehicle should be available to show that part of history. 3.0/5.0. Robin Finlay 29/08/2022 Visit robinsmodelcarsinternetmuseum.net for more!

  • Massey Ferguson 135 Tractor with Cab

Click & Return to Index WELCOME Tractors & Farm Machinery Massey Ferguson 135 Tractor with Cab Model Description Massey Ferguson 135 with Cab Scale: 1:16 Die-cast Metal with plastic parts Model made by Universal Models. General Description This is one of the splendid models made by Universal Models. This company is well regarded for its detailed models, especially their range of Tractors and Farm Equipment. This is one of the best detailed tractors that I have seen. We have a range of universal tractors, and each one still has that quality one would expect from models such as this one. Done in that famous red and grey finish is the hallmark of the Massey Ferguson label, the quality of the paintwork and the finish is excellent. The Engine detail is one of the items that one notices when viewing the model. There are largely parts that reflect that attention to detail. It does not matter what part of this model you look at, the scaling of each part is that even the smallest component no matter how small is visible in detail. All emblems and decals have been attached as on the real tractors and even the detail of these decals especially those on the instrument panel are readable. Looking at items such as the gearbox levers, clutch and brake pedals have been made to the type of metal used. Steering wheel is completely realistic, where in some models, these can be more chunky which is due to the scale of the models. So overall, this is a very well made model. The attention to detail is remarkable for the scale, and this model would have to be a must for those collectors who enjoy these types of models. There are a large number of collectors whose interest is in these tractors and they can be very fussy just as we are. The important reason we collect models like this, is to enjoy that detail we see on every model. This is a must. I have given it a well deserved 5.0/5.0. Robin Finlay 08/08/2023.

From 1950 to 1956, the T1 (not called that at the time) was built in Wolfsburg; from 1956, it was built at the completely new Transporter factory in Hanover. Like the Beetle, the first Transporters used the 1100 Volkswagen air-cooled engine, an 1,131 cc (69.0 cu in), DIN-rated 18 kW (24 PS; 24 bhp), air-cooled flat-four-cylinder 'boxer' engine mounted in the rear. This was upgraded to the 1200 – an 1,192 cc (72.7 cu in) 22 kW (30 PS; 30 bhp) in 1953. A higher compression ratio became standard in 1955; while an unusual early version of the 30 kW (41 PS; 40 bhp) engine debuted exclusively on the Type 2 in 1959. Any 1959 models that retain that early engine today are rare. Since the engine was discontinued almost immediately, no spare parts were made available. The early versions of the T1 until 1955 were often called the "Barndoor" (retrospectively called T1a since the 1990s), owing to the enormous rear engine cover, while the later versions with a slightly modified body (the roofline above the windshield is extended), smaller engine bay, and 15" roadwheels instead of the original 16" ones are nowadays called the T1b (again, only called this since the 1990s, based on VW's retrospective T1,2,3,4 etc. naming system.). From the 1964 model year, when the rear door was made wider (same as on the bay-window or T2), the vehicle could be referred to as the T1c. 1964 also saw the introduction of an optional sliding door for the passenger/cargo area instead of the outwardly hinged doors typical of cargo vans. In 1962, a heavy-duty Transporter was introduced as a factory option. It featured a cargo capacity of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) instead of the previous 750 kg (1,653 lb), smaller but wider 14" roadwheels, and a 1.5 L, 31 kW (42 PS; 42 bhp) DIN engine. This was so successful that only a year later, the 750 kg, 1.2 L Transporter was discontinued. The 1963 model year introduced the 1500 engine – 1,493 cc (91.1 cu in) as standard equipment to the US market at 38 kW (52 PS; 51 bhp) DIN with an 83 mm (3.27 in) bore, 69 mm (2.72 in) stroke, and 7.8:1 compression ratio. When the Beetle received the 1.5 L engine for the 1967 model year, its power was increased to 40 kW (54 PS; 54 bhp) DIN. German production stopped after the 1967 model year; however, the T1 still was made in Brazil until 1975, when it was modified with a 1968–79 T2-style front end, and big 1972-vintage taillights into the so-called "T1.5" and produced until 1996. The Brazilian T1s were not identical to the last German models (the T1.5 was locally produced in Brazil using the 1950s and 1960s-era stamping dies to cut down on retooling, alongside the Beetle/Fusca, where the pre-1965 body style was retained), though they sported some characteristic features of the T1a, such as the cargo doors and five-stud 205 mm (8.1 in) Pitch Circle Diameter rims. Wheel tracks varied between German and Brazilian production and with 14-inch, 15-inch and 16-inch wheel variants but commonly front track varied from 1290 mm to 1310 mm and rear track from 1370 mm to 1390 mm. Among American enthusiasts, it is common to refer to the different models by the number of their windows. The basic Kombi or Bus is the 11-window (a.k.a. three-window bus because of three side windows) with a split windshield, two front cabin door windows, six rear side windows, and one rear window. The DeLuxe model featured eight rear side windows and two rear corner windows, making it the 15-window (not available in Europe). Meanwhile, the sunroof DeLuxe with its additional eight small skylight windows is, accordingly, the 23-window. From the 1964 model year, with its wider rear door, the rear corner windows were discontinued, making the latter two the 13-window and 21-window respectively. The 23- and later 21-window variants each carry the nickname "Samba" or in Australia, officially "Alpine"

Styled for Standard-Triumph in 1957 by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, the Spitfire was introduced at the London Motor Show in 1962. It was manufactured at the Standard-Triumph Canley works, with approximately 315,000 produced over 18 years. Developed on a shortened variant of the Triumph Herald saloon/sedan's chassis, the Spitfire shared the Herald's running gear and Standard SC engine. The design used body-on-frame construction, augmented by structural components within the bodywork and rear trailing arms attached to the body rather than the chassis. A manually deployable convertible top, substantially improved on later models, provided weather protection and a bespoke hard-top was available as a factory option. Popular in street and rally racing, Spitfires won numerous SCCA National Sports Car Championships in F and G Production classes; won its class at the 1964 Tour de France rally, coming in second overall, and won the 1964 Geneva Rally. In 1965, a Spitfire won its class in the Alpine Rally. The model was named after the famed Supermarine Spitfire fighter plane of World War II.
