  • 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 | Robin's Model Cars Internet Museum

< Back 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 2000 -2008 Morgan Aero 8 Model Description Model Details Name of Model: 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 Scale: 1:18 Manufacturer: Burago Collection: Sports & Performance Collection Museum Number: 18 - SP123 - 23 - 03 Date Added to YouTube: 29/02/2024 Description From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopaedia The Morgan Aero 8 sports car was built by Morgan Motor Company at its factory in Malvern Link, England from 2000 until 2018. The Aero 8 shape evolved in the traditional Morgan way of form following function and the main players were Chris Lawrence, Charles Morgan and other members of the Morgan Engineering Team, and Norman Kent of Survirn Engineering Ltd – especially for the tooling of the Aero wings. The bonded aluminium chassis has elements of an ash frame to provide a link to the more traditional cars. It was designed by Chris Lawrence who had a long-standing relationship with Morgan and included many features of racing cars of the time. Items such as in-board shock absorbers, double wishbones all round, a flat floor, centre lock magnesium wheels, rose-jointed suspension and other elements were included providing significant handling improvements over previous models. Complete with a bespoke aluminium chassis, all independent suspension and powered by a 4.4 litre BMW V8 engine (M62TUB44) producing 286 bhp (210 kW) at 5500 rpm and 322 lbf·ft (430 N·m) at 3750 rpm this was a radical departure from the traditionally built Morgans. Performance was 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. Model Description Looking at this model, one is looking at 2 separate parts. The good and the bad. First the good. The model on the outside is good. The body and paintwork, one is struck by that racing green that one expects from the English sports cars. While other colours were available, one feels all British sports cars seem to look better in this colour. On this model, the paintwork has been done nicely, with no bubbles or cracks anywhere. All opening panels fit with excellent gap clearance. The doors open well with the separate sections of the bonnet open wide and stay open. Boot door opens wide and also remains open. The interior has been reproduced faithfully from the real car with the instruments readable. The seating, while hard, is still descriptive. The exterior attachments, such as the lights, headlights, indicator lights, front and rear, have been added with great care as to placement. Front wheels turn, as well as the steering wheel. The chrome wheels give it that final sports car look. Now the Bad. The engine is let down. It feels like it is unfinished. In reality, more should have been done to make this engine on one of the best British hand built vehicles. That engine detail does not show that engine to its potential detail. Lt just barely shows it is an engine at all. Because of this lack of detail, it downgrades the overall appeal of what could have been a top model. I can only give this a 2.5 / 5.0. 29/02/2024. • Ford Escort MK3 RS16001 Rally | Robin's Model Cars Internet Museum

< Back Ford Escort MK3 RS16001 Rally Model Description Previous Next Ford Escort (Europe) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia The Ford Escort is a small family car that was manufactured by Ford of Europe from 1968 until 2000. In total there were six generations, spread across three basic platforms beginning with the original rear-wheel drive Mk.1/Mk.2 (1968–1980), the "Erika" front wheel drive Mk.3/Mk.4 (1980–1990), and the final CE-14 Mk.5/Mk.6 (1990–2002) version. Its successor - the Ford Focus - was released in 1998, but the final generation of Escort was gradually phased out, with the panel van version ending production in 2002 in favour of the Ford Transit Connect. The Escort was frequently the best selling car in Britain during the 1980s and 1990s. A total of more than 4.1 million Escorts of all generations were sold there over a period of 33 years. Sporting models] Ford Escort RS 1600i To compete with Volkswagen's Golf GTI, a hot hatch version of the Mark III was developed – the XR3. Initially this featured a tuned version of the 1.6 L CVH engine fitted with a twin-choke Weber carburettor, uprated suspension and numerous cosmetic alterations. It lacked a five-speed transmission and fuel injection. Fuel injection finally arrived in October 1982 (creating the XR3i), eight months behind the limited edition (8,659 examples), racetrack-influenced RS 1600i. The Cologne-developed RS received a more powerful engine with 115 PS (85 kW), thanks to computerised ignition and a modified head as well as the fuel injection. Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 The final performance update arrived in the form of the turbocharged 132 PS (97 kW) RS Turbo model in October 1984. The RS Turbo was somewhat of a disappointment; it had been delayed several times and when it went on sale in early 1985, the chassis came in for severe criticism. Ford initially planned to build 5,000 RS Turbos, the minimum number required for homologation in Group A. However a total of 8,604 were built due to increased demand, almost all in Diamond White. Produced in both LHD and RHD, it was only marketed in a few European nations with 5,000 examples for the UK, and was only sold through official Rallye Sport dealers. They were well equipped, with the alloy wheels from the limited production RS 1600i, Recaro seats, and a viscous-coupling limited slip differential. Only three cars were finished in black; one of them built especially for Lady Diana. The Series 2 RS Turbo continued with the 1986 MKIV model. Model Description Motor Rally Racing is an increasingly popular sport. There are certain countries where this sport is as popular as many other types of sports. To watch these cars speeding down dirt roads at breathtaking speeds, sliding through corners at speeds that we mere mortals would feel utterly terrified, yet it is addictive to watch. The Body This is a 1;18 scale Ford Escort MK3 RS1600I Model made from die-cast metal and plastic parts. This model is a highly detailed model in every way. Firstly the body in this brilliant fire engine red has been done exceedingly well with no faults such as cracks or blistering. This is a hatchback with 2 doors that open wide. Both The bonnet and back window in the back also open wide to give an excellent view of the interior. All panels dit well with no excessive gaps and they all shut flush to the body. This vehicle since it is a rally car is of course fitted with extra panels such as air spoiler on the rear hatch door as well as having an air scoop in the front. There are other details that give this vehicle a more authentic look such as the front lights grill. All of the decals have been placed exactly where they should be and makes this model that much a visual one. The wheels have the steel rims with the wide tires that would be as on the original car. The Interior Very much as one would expect from this type of vehicle. Basic in that these vehicles need to have minimal items in the interior than normal vehicles, because the more of those items like the passenger and back seats would add weight which would slow it down. Too much weight means less speed, and less speed means it's not competitive. Fitted with a safety frame to protect the driver from rollovers and the additional items such as the fire extinguishers gives this model such realism. In the rear where one would have the spare tire it features a part that I am not sure of its function. But other than the racing seats, the door panels as well as the dashboard is the same as the vehicle that anyone would buy from their Ford dealership. The details of the console is remarkable with the instruments and dials also detailed. Steering wheel with all of its control switches has been done extremely well as to the scale. Overall this interior has to be one of the best I have seen. The Engine This engine would be what I call a class A engine in that the detail has been done exceptionally well. It is not often that one finds an engine with so much detail and in so many colours that you would see if you were to open the bonnet of a real version of this vehicle. Small details like the cables from the sparkplugs, the brake cylinder, air filter with all of its hoses. The actual engine has been made with just about all of its details to see, with other parts exhausts coming from the block to attaching to the rear exhaust. Looking underneath this vehicle that detail continues. The Conclusion This is a very visual model and will display well. Its attention to detail is a delight, and for myself will be a very good addition to the museum. We are intending to add other models that are the same with that incredible detail which is what this museum is all about. Attention to the smallest detail shows how much these models have changed in regards to their quality. This is what collectors want. This is a model that you can take pride in displaying and this is not just for those serious collectors, it's also something that would fit on any desk as a display, in the mancave or simply on a shelf. It stands out as a model maker's attention to detail. There is nothing I can see to fault this model and I think it would be an insult to give it anything other than a 5.0 / 5.0. < Back 1969 Morris Minor 1000 18 - C110 - 17 - 02 1969 Morris Minor 1000 For any collector who is a perfectionist, coming across that extra special model that stands out and presents itself in all areas. And this is one of the most incredible models that I have ever seen. In fact its this model that set up my interest in starting this museum. Besides being well built and with that High detail that one looks for, this model surprises with extra feature never seen in most models. Wind-down windows. soft Tires, quarter windows that open, cloth seating, even to the extent a full tool kit in the boot. And within this tool kit, a jack to lift the car, that really works. Wheel removal tool, that undo the wheel nuts of the car, and allows you to replace the wheel with the removable tire in the boot. Even with all these extras, this is still a incredible detailed model, that just simply amazes. Engine detail, that you can believe that all you need to do, is to turn the key and it will startup. This is a must for any collector that want that model of perfection, to stand out and to display proudly. Thi is a 5/5. Robin Finlay 26/07/2022. Visit robinsmodelcarsinternetmuseum.net for more! This contrasts with a conventional truck where the engine is mounted in front of the driver. Autocar, the oldest surviving motor vehicle manufacturer in America, produces primarily cabover trucks. Although cabover trucks were popular among United States heavy truckers and trucking companies during the 1970s because of strict length laws in many states, when those length laws were repealed, most heavy-truck makers moved to other body styles. One of the reasons is the Federal Bridge Formula, which is unique to the US, and encourages spreading out the load. If axle distances are too tight, the maximum load allowance is reduced. For COEs operated at maximum weight in the US, this required an axle directly behind the front bumper. This cab design caused an awkward climb into the cab for the driver, forcing them to climb up behind the front wheel, then moving to the front and into the cab. The Model. First of all, you must forget the colour. The main reason the museum purchased this 1:24 Scale die-cast with plastic parts was not because of its flashy colour. It's because of it unique shape. So looking at this model, the first thing that struck me was the quality of the paintwork. There are no bubbles, scratches, cracks or paint drip. It obviously has a great deal of effort been considered in relation to this model. The doors open and close nicely and fits well with excellent gap clearance all around the doors. I wasn't sure whether the bonnet opened, because there appeared to be the gap all around the bonnet. But my policy is not to use force on any part. If it opened, it would have been nice to see the type of it. If it didn't, they missed a great opportunity to add something new to it. The back tray extends out. However on the real vehicle, there would have been a hoist. Or maybe they used ramps, found none if that's how they used it. But its a truck that gave birth to the Kenworth and Peterbilt Cabs over engines that most would recognise It not often one gets to see these trucks only at truck shows where they mostly have been customised like our model. or maybe we see then in farmers fields as we drive past. at least the museum has one of these unique trucks and for that we are grateful. I give it a 4.0/5.0. Robin Finlay 09/10/2022. Visit robinsmodelcarsinternetmuseum.net for more!

  • Jaguar E-Type Convertible

13 Click to Return Home WELCOME Sports Cars & Luxury Vehicles 1962-1982 Ford Cortina Jaguar E-Type From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Jaguar E-Type, or the Jaguar XK-E for the North American market, is a British sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1974. Its combination of beauty, high performance, and competitive pricing established the model as an icon of the motoring world. The E-Type's claimed 150 mph (241 km/h) top speed, sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration, unitary construction, disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and independent front and rear suspension distinguished the car and spurred industry-wide changes. The E-Type employed what was, for the early 1960s, a novel design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1315 kg (2900 lb).[7] It is rumored that, on its debut on 15 March 1961[4] Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made", but this statement is not fully confirmed.[8] In 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the E-Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s The Series 1 cars essentially fall into two categories: Those made between 1961 and 1964, which had 3.8-litre engines and (on all but the very last cars) partial synchromesh transmissions; and those made between 1965 and 1967, which increased engine size and torque by around 10% to 4.2 litres, and also provided new reclining seats, an alternator in place of the dynamo, an electrical system switched to negative earth, a more reliable brake servo,[13] and other modern amenities. Styling was unchanged Series 1 Overview Also called Jaguar XK-E[32] Production March 1961–68[33][34] Body and chassis Body style 2-door fastback coupé 2-door 2+2 fastback coupé 2-door roadster Powertrain Engine 3.8 L XK I6 4.2 L XK I6 Transmission 4-speed manual; 3-speed automatic (automatic available 1966-onward, 2+2 model only) 1961-1964 Jaguar Series 1 E-Type Model Scale: 1:18 Museum Number: 18 - SL116 - 20 - 02 Material: Die-cast metal Plastic parts Star rating: ***/***** This is one of Britain's most famous cars. It has been said that the father of Ferrari stated that it was the most beautiful car in the world. So it's a shame that such a car should be made in this size, at what I consider an ugly model. It has so many things wrong, it’s hard to where to start. Its body is the main area of die-cast metal, and while it has a good shape when you have a quick look at it, but its when you look more closely at it that you see the problems. While the bonnet and boot have excellent gap clearance, the same cannot be said of the doors. When you look at the doors, you can see into the interior. On most models, the doors fit into the exterior door frame so they open and close without this problem. This is a design flaw that seems to affect only this model, the Cabriolet, while the closed coupe does not have this problem. And now the interior. What a mess. The seating is wrong with such seating as it would not appear on the real E-Type. It totally makes this a children's toy, and does not give most collectors a chance not to display it. The remaining areas like the engine are reasonably well done, with excellent detail. With the bonnet being able to be fully open, this gave the makers a chance to add detail to the engine. This they have attempted, and while some may like it, there seems to be an over use of that brown plastic colour that is the same as used on the interior. Overall, not an exciting model. I am very disappointed as this company has given collectors a classier model. I cannot score any better, a 3/5

Serving as the successor to the 359, the 379 was a conventional-cab truck configured primarily for highway use, serving as the flagship of the Peterbilt model line. During much of its production, the 379 was popular among owner-operator drivers. In line with the Kenworth W900, the 379 serves a popular basis for truck customisation. Following its 2007 discontinuation, the 379 was replaced by the Peterbilt 389, distinguished by oval headlamp clusters and a longer hood. To commemorate the end of production, the final 1000 examples of the 379 were designated Legacy Class 379. Model Description What we have here is a 1:32 scale die-cast metal with plastic parts of one of the best American Trucks. This is a model put out by Franklin Mint, and it has been known that this company has produced some high quality and detailed models of all types of vehicles. This particular model came with a refrigerated trailer which details have not been included here. The Body This model has had a great deal of work to reproduce one of America’s premier trucks. From the front bumper bar, to the rear end, you will find that not only is the quality work expected and has been achieved with this model. But also that detail so important to collectors has been done better than collectors expected. The beautiful black paint which is so flawless makes this model stand out. The rivets and bolts emphasise just how much has been achieved despite its scale. It's important to note the amount of chrome, and while some may question the amount, truckers love to personalise their vehicles. The amount of chrome used by many truckers displayed here, is a driver's pride in their truck and shows the pride they feel. The emblems and decals have been reproduced exactly, with even the smallest one readable. The window sun visor and the horns with the lights on the roof, that shows the wind spoiler on the top shows off the entire truck. This model has both doors that open, but also allows the engine bonnet to open to reveal the engine itself. Unfortunately, because of the scale, while details of the interior do give a good look into the cabin, details are surprisingly readable. The detail shows the steering column and the steering wheel in detail which includes all the levers indicating the turn signal. Gear shift as well the interior seats have been well cast. The top of the roof lifts to reveal the interior of the sleeping compartment. You can see right into the cabin. The plastics used are soft rather than the hard plastics you normally see, but even the roof section is well done to show what that extra detail can improve the quality of the model. The Engine This engine for this scale has some of the best detail seen on these scale models. With the bonnet open, the detail of this engine shows it in great detail from the radiator to the firewall. That detail continues underneath the truck as it show the underneath of the engine but also the gearbox and also the drive shaft right through to the rear axles. The engine itself is all the detail that most drivers of these heavy trucks can see. Even the details show the exhaust going from the engine to those tall twin exhausts. This also includes the air cleaners The Conclusion This is an impressive model. With such detail, it represents a model that shows the maker's skills in reproducing models for collectors looking for something special. And this is a very special model, showing all that detail, not only the outside, but also in the interior. That detail of the engine is especially special. Not many models can replicate this. I personally find very little to fault this model. Recommend it? Absolutely. If you can pick one up, do so as they are hard to find. So overall, a top model that I will with no hesitation give a 5.0 / 5.0. Robin Finlay 24/04/2023.
