  • 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider

24 Click to Return Home WELCOME Sports Cars & Luxury Vehicles 1962-1982 Ford Cortina Lancia Aurelia E24 Spider From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia The Lancia Aurelia is a car produced by Italian manufacturer Lancia from 1950 to the summer of 1958. It is noted for using one of the first series-production V6 engines. Several body styles were offered: 4-door saloon, 2-door GT coupé (B20), 2-door spider/convertible (B24), and a chassis to be custom bodied by external coachbuilders. Establishing a post-war Lancia tradition, the car was named after a Roman road: the Via Aurelia, leading from Rome to Pisa. Specifications The Aurelia was designed under the direction of engineer Vittorio Jano. Its engine, one of the first production V6 engines, a 60° design developed by Francesco de Virgilio, who was between 1943 and 1948 a Lancia engineer, and who worked under Jano. During production, capacity grew from 1.8 L to 2.5 L. Prototype engines used a bore and stroke of 68 mm x 72 mm for 1,569 cc; these were tested between 1946 and 1948. It was an all-alloy pushrod design with a single camshaft between the cylinder banks. A hemispherical combustion chamber and in-line valves were used. A single Solex or Weber carburettor completed the engine. Some uprated 1,991 cc models were fitted with twin carburettors. At the rear was an innovative combination transaxle with the gearbox, clutch, differential, and inboard-mounted drum brakes. The front suspension was a sliding pillar design, with rear semi-trailing arms replaced by a de Dion tube in the Fourth series. The Aurelia was also the first car to be fitted with radial tires as standard equipment.[1] Initially 165SR400 Michelin X and later on the sports models fitted with 165HR400 Pirelli Cinturato. Model Description 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider Scale: 1:18 Die-cast Metal with plastic parts Model made by burago This model when we got it appears to be like the 1955 Corvette convertible, however when it’s inspected, there are a lot of differences. First let's look at the paintwork. Overall the paintwork is good with no bubbles or cracks. On the body the petrol cover is just an impression that was done when it was cast. The only decals on the model are 2 small Lancia emblems, otherwise there are others. There is a small logo on the radiator. The chromework on this model consists of the bumpers, the grill, strips along the sides and around the windscreen. These are not over-chromed. The body panels fit nicely with no over-sized gaps. The boot and bonnet open and stay open. Doors open and close, however there are no door handles. One of the nice features are the wheels and the distinctive wire rims with the quick release wheel nut. The interior of this is both good and bad. But perhaps bad would not really be what would be used to describe those areas of concern. First the door panels are not a separate part, but are simply a pressed image. This shows a very clear look at the door features. The single seats are reasonable in detail and both the backs can be moved forward. The gearshift is a disappointment in that it is oversized and looks out of place. The rest, like the dash, is poor with the impression that it is not presented well. The engine is one of the most important areas that is of concern to collectors. A poorly designed engine on a model that even though the rest of the model is good, will lower that model's appearance. This engine in this model is in fact quite good. In some areas, it is in quality that other parts, such as the interior of the model, makes one confused as to why such a discrepancy over the model. Having such a variation in quality, makes this engine surprising in that its detail can be appreciated. When one looks at it from the top, just about most parts can be identified. When viewed underneath, this detail continues with overall, this engine is better than most. Talking about the underneath of the model, the detail of this model is as good as any more expensive models. So overall, what is our impression of this model? It sparks a mixed emotion, in that, why has this model been made where attention to detail goes from good to bad in so many areas? Body is excellent, but is let down by the interior, and then goes full circle with a nicely and reasonable engine. One asks why parts of the model, why quality falls down so drastically in the detailing. Overall, we are disappointed in this model. We have and need more of these exotic brands in the museum's collection. We can add this into the museum's collection, by adding them into that range of types of these vehicles. However, as a collectible, we feel what we see in the box does not live up to its potential. I can only give it a 3.0/5.0. Robin Finlay. 11/08/2023.

  • 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 | Robin's Model Cars Internet Museum

< Back 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 2000 -2008 Morgan Aero 8 Model Description Model Details Name of Model: 2000-2008 Morgan Aero 8 Scale: 1:18 Manufacturer: Burago Collection: Sports & Performance Collection Museum Number: 18 - SP123 - 23 - 03 Date Added to YouTube: 29/02/2024 Description From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopaedia The Morgan Aero 8 sports car was built by Morgan Motor Company at its factory in Malvern Link, England from 2000 until 2018. The Aero 8 shape evolved in the traditional Morgan way of form following function and the main players were Chris Lawrence, Charles Morgan and other members of the Morgan Engineering Team, and Norman Kent of Survirn Engineering Ltd – especially for the tooling of the Aero wings. The bonded aluminium chassis has elements of an ash frame to provide a link to the more traditional cars. It was designed by Chris Lawrence who had a long-standing relationship with Morgan and included many features of racing cars of the time. Items such as in-board shock absorbers, double wishbones all round, a flat floor, centre lock magnesium wheels, rose-jointed suspension and other elements were included providing significant handling improvements over previous models. Complete with a bespoke aluminium chassis, all independent suspension and powered by a 4.4 litre BMW V8 engine (M62TUB44) producing 286 bhp (210 kW) at 5500 rpm and 322 lbf·ft (430 N·m) at 3750 rpm this was a radical departure from the traditionally built Morgans. Performance was 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. Model Description Looking at this model, one is looking at 2 separate parts. The good and the bad. First the good. The model on the outside is good. The body and paintwork, one is struck by that racing green that one expects from the English sports cars. While other colours were available, one feels all British sports cars seem to look better in this colour. On this model, the paintwork has been done nicely, with no bubbles or cracks anywhere. All opening panels fit with excellent gap clearance. The doors open well with the separate sections of the bonnet open wide and stay open. Boot door opens wide and also remains open. The interior has been reproduced faithfully from the real car with the instruments readable. The seating, while hard, is still descriptive. The exterior attachments, such as the lights, headlights, indicator lights, front and rear, have been added with great care as to placement. Front wheels turn, as well as the steering wheel. The chrome wheels give it that final sports car look. Now the Bad. The engine is let down. It feels like it is unfinished. In reality, more should have been done to make this engine on one of the best British hand built vehicles. That engine detail does not show that engine to its potential detail. Lt just barely shows it is an engine at all. Because of this lack of detail, it downgrades the overall appeal of what could have been a top model. I can only give this a 2.5 / 5.0. 29/02/2024. • Ford Escort MK3 RS16001 Rally | Robin's Model Cars Internet Museum

< Back Ford Escort MK3 RS16001 Rally Model Description Previous Next Ford Escort (Europe) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia The Ford Escort is a small family car that was manufactured by Ford of Europe from 1968 until 2000. In total there were six generations, spread across three basic platforms beginning with the original rear-wheel drive Mk.1/Mk.2 (1968–1980), the "Erika" front wheel drive Mk.3/Mk.4 (1980–1990), and the final CE-14 Mk.5/Mk.6 (1990–2002) version. Its successor - the Ford Focus - was released in 1998, but the final generation of Escort was gradually phased out, with the panel van version ending production in 2002 in favour of the Ford Transit Connect. The Escort was frequently the best selling car in Britain during the 1980s and 1990s. A total of more than 4.1 million Escorts of all generations were sold there over a period of 33 years. Sporting models] Ford Escort RS 1600i To compete with Volkswagen's Golf GTI, a hot hatch version of the Mark III was developed – the XR3. Initially this featured a tuned version of the 1.6 L CVH engine fitted with a twin-choke Weber carburettor, uprated suspension and numerous cosmetic alterations. It lacked a five-speed transmission and fuel injection. Fuel injection finally arrived in October 1982 (creating the XR3i), eight months behind the limited edition (8,659 examples), racetrack-influenced RS 1600i. The Cologne-developed RS received a more powerful engine with 115 PS (85 kW), thanks to computerised ignition and a modified head as well as the fuel injection. Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 The final performance update arrived in the form of the turbocharged 132 PS (97 kW) RS Turbo model in October 1984. The RS Turbo was somewhat of a disappointment; it had been delayed several times and when it went on sale in early 1985, the chassis came in for severe criticism. Ford initially planned to build 5,000 RS Turbos, the minimum number required for homologation in Group A. However a total of 8,604 were built due to increased demand, almost all in Diamond White. Produced in both LHD and RHD, it was only marketed in a few European nations with 5,000 examples for the UK, and was only sold through official Rallye Sport dealers. They were well equipped, with the alloy wheels from the limited production RS 1600i, Recaro seats, and a viscous-coupling limited slip differential. Only three cars were finished in black; one of them built especially for Lady Diana. The Series 2 RS Turbo continued with the 1986 MKIV model. Model Description Motor Rally Racing is an increasingly popular sport. There are certain countries where this sport is as popular as many other types of sports. To watch these cars speeding down dirt roads at breathtaking speeds, sliding through corners at speeds that we mere mortals would feel utterly terrified, yet it is addictive to watch. The Body This is a 1;18 scale Ford Escort MK3 RS1600I Model made from die-cast metal and plastic parts. This model is a highly detailed model in every way. Firstly the body in this brilliant fire engine red has been done exceedingly well with no faults such as cracks or blistering. This is a hatchback with 2 doors that open wide. Both The bonnet and back window in the back also open wide to give an excellent view of the interior. All panels dit well with no excessive gaps and they all shut flush to the body. This vehicle since it is a rally car is of course fitted with extra panels such as air spoiler on the rear hatch door as well as having an air scoop in the front. There are other details that give this vehicle a more authentic look such as the front lights grill. All of the decals have been placed exactly where they should be and makes this model that much a visual one. The wheels have the steel rims with the wide tires that would be as on the original car. The Interior Very much as one would expect from this type of vehicle. Basic in that these vehicles need to have minimal items in the interior than normal vehicles, because the more of those items like the passenger and back seats would add weight which would slow it down. Too much weight means less speed, and less speed means it's not competitive. Fitted with a safety frame to protect the driver from rollovers and the additional items such as the fire extinguishers gives this model such realism. In the rear where one would have the spare tire it features a part that I am not sure of its function. But other than the racing seats, the door panels as well as the dashboard is the same as the vehicle that anyone would buy from their Ford dealership. The details of the console is remarkable with the instruments and dials also detailed. Steering wheel with all of its control switches has been done extremely well as to the scale. Overall this interior has to be one of the best I have seen. The Engine This engine would be what I call a class A engine in that the detail has been done exceptionally well. It is not often that one finds an engine with so much detail and in so many colours that you would see if you were to open the bonnet of a real version of this vehicle. Small details like the cables from the sparkplugs, the brake cylinder, air filter with all of its hoses. The actual engine has been made with just about all of its details to see, with other parts exhausts coming from the block to attaching to the rear exhaust. Looking underneath this vehicle that detail continues. The Conclusion This is a very visual model and will display well. Its attention to detail is a delight, and for myself will be a very good addition to the museum. We are intending to add other models that are the same with that incredible detail which is what this museum is all about. Attention to the smallest detail shows how much these models have changed in regards to their quality. This is what collectors want. This is a model that you can take pride in displaying and this is not just for those serious collectors, it's also something that would fit on any desk as a display, in the mancave or simply on a shelf. It stands out as a model maker's attention to detail. There is nothing I can see to fault this model and I think it would be an insult to give it anything other than a 5.0 / 5.0. < Back Nissan 350Z Nissan 350Z From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia The Nissan 350Z (known as Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33) in Japan) is a two-door, two-seater sports car that was manufactured by Nissan Motor Corporation from 2002 until 2009 and marks the fifth generation of Nissan's Z-car line. The 350Z entered production in 2002 and was sold and marketed as a 2003 model from August 2002. The first year there was only a coupe, as the roadster did not debut until the following year. Initially, the coupe came in Base, Enthusiast, Performance, Touring and Track versions, while the Roadster was limited to Enthusiast and Touring trim levels. The Track trim came with lightweight wheels and Brembo brakes, but its suspension tuning was the same as all other coupes. The Nissan 350Z was succeeded by the 370Z for the 2009 model year. This is a well thought out model. The body with its mid-blue paintwork is well constructed and fitted together. The body has no paint defects and no bubbling of any paintwork. Panels include the 2 doors, rear hatch door and the bonnet. All open reasonably well and when closed show no big gaps anywhere. Both doors show the interesting door handles and are inserts rather than simply painted on. Both front and rear lights have been fitted so there are no gaps or raised areas to spoil the effects. Also there are two small badges marked with the “Z” raised so to give them a more realistic look. All decals are placed correctly and aligned as on the actual vehicle. The wheels with their black mag wheels really set them off, with the front wheels can be turned using the steering wheel. The Interior This is well designed and gives a realistic look in this vehicle's interior. Door panels have details clearly visible with the door handle raised and realistic. The seat belts are visible with the two inserts with no sign of the rest of the belts. The centre console shows switches, the handbrake and the gear shift and this continues up to the main dashboard. It shows clearly all the switches that control the information screen and buttons possibly for the lights. The rest of the dashboard shows a small set of instruments, while the main instrument panel is a separate part rather than inserted into the main console. This makes a good look and you can see that they have added very small decals to give each instrument that extra realistic look. Overall, this interior has been well thought out and displays well. The Engine This engine is very much what you see for this type of model. However they have made it a better engine by highlighting parts of the engine that gives a better look at the parts one would see if one was looking at the real one. The use of the decals also makes this engine more realistic. The Hatch back With the hatch section opened, one gets a good look into the interior. About two-thirds down, there is a bar that is fitted. This seems it is for looks rather than it serves any use. However when one looks more at it, It very well may be a rollover bar. Apart from this, there is nothing else in the boot area, not even the spare tire if it even has one. So suitable for grocery shopping or even a small suitcase, more of a sports car that is supposed to be. The Conclusion Over all. This is a good example of a model that still is a bit light on detail. The engine could be more detailed, and the interior could use some tweeting to give it that more spark in its detail. Still it's collectable and does display well so it's a model fit to own. I give it a 4.5/5.0. Robin Finlay 26/02/2023. 18 - SP118 - 23 - 02 Previous Next
